La Gomera, island with the green soul
La Gomera offers a variety of impressive landscapes, and each valley, each village has a different feel. The valleys stretch from the heart of the island, the national park with the highest peak, the Alto de Garajonay, down to the coast.
The southern regions (southwest/ south/ southeast) of the island have a different climate from the north. The north (Vallehermoso/ Hermigua) is more fertile and therefore extraordinarily scenic and popular for hiking, with numerous phantastic trails.
Compared to Tenerife, there is no mass tourism on La Gomera. The main tourist village on La Gomera is the “hippie flair” Valle Gran Rey. San Sebastián, also called “La Villa”, is the small and charming capital of the Gomeros. Both places offer good infrastructure, partly very good restaurants and nice beaches. Be flexible and take day trips to explore the whole island with your rental car.
