La Gomera

La Gomera offers a vari­ety of impres­sive land­scapes, and each val­ley, each vil­lage has a dif­fer­ent feel. The val­leys stretch from the heart of the island, the nation­al park with the high­est peak, the Alto de Gara­jon­ay, down to the coast.

The south­ern regions (southwest/ south/ south­east) of the island have a dif­fer­ent cli­mate from the north: dur­ing win­ter (Novem­ber to March). From April to octo­ber it is sun­ny on the north­ern as well as on the south­ern coast. The north (Valle­hermoso/ Her­migua) is more fer­tile and there­fore extra­or­di­nar­i­ly scenic and pop­u­lar for hik­ing, with numer­ous phan­tas­tic trails.

Com­pared to Tener­ife, there is no mass tourism on La Gomera. The main tourist vil­lage on La Gomera is the “hip­pie flair” Valle Gran Rey. San Sebastián, also called “La Vil­la”, is the small and charm­ing cap­i­tal of the Gomeros. Both places offer good infra­struc­ture, part­ly very good restau­rants and nice beach­es. Be flex­i­ble and take day trips to explore the whole island with your rental car.

All regions of the island are suit­able for hik­ing. There are beau­ti­ful beach­es in Valle Gran Rey, Alo­jera, Playa San­ti­a­go and San Sebastián de la Gomera. You can enjoy the sun­sets in Valle Gran Rey, Tag­u­luche and Alo­jera. With the rental car you are flex­i­ble and under­take day trips.
