La Dama & Chipude
La Dama is situated on the south-western coast, above the secluded Playa de la Rajita. There is hardly any day without sunshine in this region with the highest temperatures in the anual average. The little banana workers’ village on the cliff is a perfect place for watching whales passing by the headland. La Dama remained a quiet, rural place, there is no tourism.
Coming from Valle Gran Rey, just before Chipude you will be passing the village of El Cercado, famous for the potters handcrafting pottery in the manner of the original inhabitants of La Gomera. Chipude itself is a typical Gomeran mountain village at an altitude of about 700 metres. The mystic table mountain “La Fortaleza” hides another testominy of the early settlement of the fertile plateau: On top of the La Fortaleza there is an archaeological site, stone spirals of unknown origin, but very likely a ritual place. The village of Chipude offers a supermarket and the Bar-Pension Sonia accommodating and catering for guests with sound regional cuisine – a perfect starting point for hikers. From the hamlet of Gerian, just a few kilometres from Chipude, a trail is leading 6 kilometres through the barranco to Valle Gran Rey (Los Reyes).
Since 2004 I mediate holiday homes, apartments and rental car bookings on the smallest & western Canary islands La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma. The first years I was living in Vallehermoso (La Gomera) with my family. For some time the office is situated in Germany, and I travel to the most beautiful islands in the sea several times a year.
I know all accommodations, all house owners personally, take the photos myself and regularly check the quality of the houses on site. My program is small and fine: I only offer holiday homes in which I feel comfortable and which I can really recommend. So to get to know the islands far from the tourist paths, you’ve come to the right place at GOMERA individual: it’s Canarias auténticas.
