Comfy Casa Buenavida, built, decorated and vintage-styled by a Gomeran artist, is located in Alajeró, in the south of the island. From your private terrace and the garden below the house you enjoy a southward view of the Calvaire mountain on the left and the ocean behind. Casa Buenavida is a heavenly peaceful place. The semi-detached home has an accurately separate entrance and terrace. The owners – the artist and his wife – live on the other side of the longhouse, the middle unit forms the apartment Casa del Medio, a maisonette for further two guests.
The small village Alajeró, counting 500 inhabitants, a few shops and three restaurants, is 400 m away, the beach of Playa de Santiago is 12 km away. Alajeró is situated at an altitude of 800 m, in winter the nights can be quite chilly, therefore the cottage offers a wood-burning stove providing pleasant warmth.
Feedback of our guests in Casa Buenavida
The travel magazin COLUMBUS nominated Casa Buenavida one of the most beautiful holiday homes of the world.

This holiday home is an ideal place to stay for those seeking absolute calm and beauty of South-West Gomera whilst also being easily connected to the rest of the Island (please note this is not always the case: Other villages and houses may be situated at more difficult to reach places and require patient driving along small and windy roads which are not everyone’s cup of tea).
Whilst the cottage is outside of the village in a very quiet and natural area with a wonderful view onto the sea and evening sun-sets beyond the sub-tropical garden, the village of Alajeró itself is at 5 minutes walking distance with good restaurants, a small shop and direct access to a number of interesting marked walking trails. Alajeró is a village for Gomerians and thus has the benefit of not being in any way or shape focussed on tourism (unlike some places nowadays in the Gran Rey valley) – a 15 minutes drive takes you to Playa de Santiago, which is a little bit more developed for tourists, but retains also a really nice relaxed vibe.
The cottage itself is lovely with original art work on the walls inspired by Gomera and other rustic topics including a sheep portrait and portrait of a donkey. A real donkey, a few little sheep, a cat and a dog make up the local menagerie and provide additional entertainment. You can tell that the owners have oodles of style and artistic sensitivity – they are thoughtful about what their guests need to immediately feel at home and enjoy the surroundings to the max. The owners live next doors, but we never felt this as an intrusion since the cottage is completely self-contained, with a separate entrance, parking and garden.
We are a couple in our forties, mad about walking, local culture, cuisine and relaxing with some music and a book in beautiful surroundings – for us, this was ideal and we will be back hopefully soon.

Dear Tabea, We arrived back on Saturday night from La Gomera after a wonderful week. All the arrangements went very smoothly and we really enjoyed staying at Casa Buenavida so we want to thank you for providing us with such an efficient and helpful service.

We have had a fantastic stay here – a ‘proper’ holiday! Lots of time spent enjoying the wonderful sunny terrace here and relaxing. A bit more energetic were the walks we found – a really memorable highlight of the trip. And we even caught the carnival in Playa Santiago! Many thanks for such a perfect holiday base.

Once again we enjoyed the time in your wonderful house. The second time in hot summer, now we are curious to be here in spring. We wish you all the best and hope to meet you again. Thank you for the attraction with another little cat. Unforgettable!
